independent woman camp nuts & bolts
what? over three days we'll cover valuable adulting skills like goal-setting, budgeting, time management, meal-planning, negotiating, and health. We'll connect with powerful female mentors across a range of industries as we get feral and learn to see our city, our wilderness, and ourselves through new eyes. girls come away from camp with tools to build themselves a scaffolding for success and resilience as they step out into the world.
why? there’s nothing more exhilarating, terrifying, and overwhelming than making the leap from childhood into adulthood. There's so much crucial information that girls just can't hear from their parents as they discover their own strengths and independence. Our mission is to bridge that gap and give girls a toolkit for taking on life as independent women.
where? portland, oregon. Daily adventures visit mentors, natural beauty, and the big real world around us.
when? june 8-11. 10am-6pm. Last day goes until 7pm for our closing party.
cost: $400 includes all food, transportation, mentorship, and materials. girls will leave empowered, with a plan, connections, and a long-term savings account.
We'll meet, bond, and jump right in with a Willamette River paddle boarding adventure! After we re-fuel and dry off, we're off for an afternoon of work with a professional life coach. We'll dig deep into goals, identity, and what it means to us to be women. We'll discuss obstacles, failure, success, and our individual values, which will guide the week's adventure. We'll discuss time management, and learn fun and practical tools for squeezing the most out of our busy lives.
We start the day moving with an improv class. From there we'll dive into a speed-dating-style inspiration bonanza with our lady boss mentors: women across a wide range of industries sharing real-life scrappy know-how, telling it straight, and connecting campers to resources, inspiration, and tips. The day ends with a city-wide bike mob scavenger hunt to woman-owned businesses, culminating in a visit to a working sewing studio for a lesson on tailoring and mending our own clothes.
We'll kick it off with a private yoga session at a woman-owned yoga studio. Following movement, we'll talk family planning, health, and self care. After a picnic lunch in the sunshine we'll hammer out our resumes, and head to the bank to get real about money: budgeting, saving, and paying bills. We'll crown the day by setting up long-term savings accounts through Albina Community Credit Union!
Self defense morning! We'll kick some booty and power up for our big last day. After working up an appetite, we'll visit a commercial kitchen to cook lunch with professional chefs and talk nutrition, meal-planning, eating well on a budget, and the importance of sharing meals with people we love. We'll take a break and head to a local swimming hole for a quick dip before our fierce and feral last day party. Power women from our lives are invited to join us for laughter and connection as we celebrate all the good stuff we're launching into the future with!
